If any one has had a similar problem, solution, advice or I am missing something, it would be greatly appreciated. It is very frustrating, I have been researching on and off for 3 days now and can't find anyone with a similar issue or solution. I even plugged in my usb mbox mini on the mac pro, everything works fine until I zoom in then I get the same issue. I switched mouses and keyboards, firewires, I bought got a 800 to 400 and tried that, no luck. I use a mackie control universal HUI and set that up and pro tools will respond to its control while unresponsive but not my mouse and keyboard, so the only way to start and stop the session is by the mackie and even then it starts and stops on its own or freezes up. Then I did a complete un-install of pro tools and did a fresh install from the disc, followed by a immediate upgrade to 8.5, on the mac pro, still the same problem. I did another back up with the most recent setting and re-migrated it to the new mac pro once again, did all the avid suggestions/ optimizations, and have the same problem. So I went back to my mac book pro and upgraded to 10.6.8, pt 8.5, and plugged in my 003 rack to the laptop and it worked great (same hard drive, firewire and all). Then I followed all the steps avid suggests to trouble shoot, as well as the optimizing system steps for os x. I noticed that the new mac had 10.6.8 installed so I thought it was just a compatibility issue, so I upgraded to pro tools 8.5 since it is qualified with 10.6.8. This happens in all sessions I open even brand new ones after prefs and all are trashed, deleted and restart. Pro tools opens and loads all plug-ins and seems too be ok, but once I zoom in a bit, it becomes non-responsive during playback, the session plays, but won't stop, zoom, scroll, faders won't move and nothing will click. I made a time machine back up of my mac book pro and migrated to my new mac Pro which went great, everything (my other software/files) works fine except for pro tools 8. Previously I have been using Pro tools 8.4 flawlessly on my macbook pro, i7, with 4 gb of ram running on snow leopard 10.6.7 for over a year or so with a mbox mini (the old one). Here we go basically, I just picked up a Intel Mac Pro, Quad Core xeon Processor, with 8 gb of ram for use with pro tools 8 and my digi 003 rack. It is a strange problem with no other similar case online that compare to this. HI, I have tried everything I believe possible to resolve this issue but nothing works.
